Defining Our Voice: A Policy Framework for Tennessee Corn Farmers
Tennessee corn farmers are strongest when we speak with a clear, unified voice. That’s exactly what the Tennessee Corn Growers Association (TCGA) board set out to accomplish with the development of the policy and resolution book.
This effort brought together farmer leaders from across the state to define the priorities that matter most to our operations, our communities, and the future of Tennessee agriculture.
The 2025/2026 TCGA Resolutions Committee, made up of Rob Holman, Karl Forsbach, Logan Meeks, Radford McDavid, and Mark Spradlin, played a key role in guiding this work, ensuring each priority reflects real on-farm perspectives from across Tennessee.
“We wanted to clearly define what we stand for as Tennessee corn farmers,” said TCGA President Rob Holman. “This process ensures that when we engage on important issues, we’re speaking with one voice—grounded in real farmer experience.”
Developed through thoughtful discussion and collaboration, the policy book reflects a farmer-led approach to addressing today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities. Spanning critical priorities across policy, infrastructure, and market development, each resolution is rooted in the realities of farming in Tennessee.
This work does more than put ideas on paper—it strengthens our ability to advocate, respond, and lead. With a clear set of priorities in place, our association is better equipped to engage with policymakers, partners, and industry leaders in a meaningful and effective way.
Tennessee Corn’s impact doesn’t stop at the state level. In both 2024 and 2025, resolutions brought forward by Tennessee farmers were adopted at Corn Congress, helping shape national policy priorities through the National Corn Growers Association. It’s a strong reminder that the voices of Tennessee corn growers are not only heard at home, but are helping lead conversations across the country.
Most importantly, this effort reinforces what makes our organization strong: it is farmer-funded, farmer-led, and focused on delivering value back to the farm.
As our industry continues to evolve, this policy framework will serve as a foundation—guiding our actions, shaping our voice, and ensuring Tennessee corn farmers remain at the center of every conversation.
