Our commitment to Tennessee’s corn growers extends beyond our board. We are actively strengthening our ties with other industry partners, such as the U.S. Grains Council, the National Corn Growers Association, and our state agriculture organizations.

Each year, the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board seeks university research projects that develop research-based technologies and practices that will help farmers increase production efficiency and profitability while safeguarding and improving the natural resources needed for agriculture.

This month, Tennessee corn farmers celebrate the five-year anniversary of the corn checkoff. Efforts to create a Tennessee Corn Checkoff began with the desire of Tennessee Corn Growers Association members to form a commodity group dedicated to expanding the sale and use of corn grown in Tennessee.

Tennessee Department of Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Hatcher recently appointed new members to the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board. The newly appointed board members were selected from a list of recommendations submitted by the Tennessee Corn Growers Association, the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation, and the Tennessee Farmers Cooperative to replace those members of the Board of Directors whose terms are expiring.  

A letter signed by 3,466 farmers from across the country was sent to President Biden expressing concern that his administration is taking a short-sighted approach to addressing climate change by prioritizing the use of electric vehicles over biofuels, such as corn ethanol, as it works to drastically lower the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions.

The Tennessee Corn Promotion Board members rang in the New Year by meeting the first week of January.  

The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) has announced the winners of the 2023 National Corn Yield Contest. Among this impressive group of farmers proving the ingenuity and resiliency of the U.S. farmer, Tennessee farmer Joshua Will Watson of Sweetwater, TN, placed nationally.

The Tennessee Corn will meet for a two-day meeting beginning on January 4, 2024.

Tennessee Corn recently released its 2022-2023 Annual Report. The report includes letters from George McDonald, Chairman of the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board, and Carl Schultz, President of the Tennessee Corn Growers Association. They provide an overview of the initiatives supported by Tennessee corn growers throughout the fiscal year and much more.

Tennessee Corn Growers Association, along with the National Corn Growers Association and 56 other agriculture organizations, urged the U.S. International Trade Commission today to consider the impacts that tariffs on Moroccan shipments of fertilizers are having on family farms.

Through a grant from the USDA and NFWF, Agricenter International will work closely with the Tennessee Soybean Promotion Board, the Tennessee Pork Producers Association, and the Tennessee Corn Growers Association to promote the FSH initiative and accelerate the adoption of cover crops across the state. 

Each year, the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board (TCPB) receives funding requests for various corn-related research projects. Since January 2020, TCPB has invested $694,797 in university research. These programs are funded to continue researching advanced management practices, improved efficiency methods, and test cutting-edge industry techniques.
