Tennessee Corn Growers Association Hosts Annual Meeting and Elects New Leadership

 

The Tennessee Corn Growers Association (TCGA) recently hosted its annual meeting, bringing together members, agricultural leaders, and guest speakers for a day focused on the future of corn farming in the state. Attendees heard updates from national and state partners, insights on upcoming projects, and discussions on issues shaping the industry. Members also approved TCGA’s first policy book and elected officers and new board members.

Harley Janssen – National Corn Growers Association (NCGA)

Harley Janssen offered valuable updates from the National Corn Growers Association, including details about NCGA’s current initiatives and the role of action teams within the organization. He also introduced a proposed funding plan for 2026, emphasizing how national efforts are supporting grassroots organizations like TCGA.

Mike Mayfield – USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA)

Mike Mayfield, the USDA FSA State Executive Director, highlighted several federal programs designed to support farmers. He encouraged members to actively engage with their local FSA offices to ensure they are taking full advantage of the benefits and resources available to them.

Rachel Painter, UT Extension

Rachel Painter – UT Extension

Rachel Painter shared details about an exciting new grain marketing project in development through UT Extension. This initiative is designed to help farmers better understand and navigate grain markets, and is being built in collaboration with local farmers, granaries, and the UT Extension. TCGA Business Meeting Highlights

State Resolutions Policy Book

President Rob Holman led the business session by presenting the newly completed State Resolutions Policy Book, developed by the TCGA Resolutions Committee. This document was formally approved by the membership and marks a significant milestone as TCGA’s first official policy book.

Board Elections

Members also participated in officer and board elections during the meeting. Current officers were re-elected and will continue to serve in their leadership roles:

  • President – Rob Holman

  • Vice President – Karl Forsbach

  • Secretary/Treasurer – Logan Meeks

In addition, four new members were elected to the Board of Directors:

  • Rad McDavid – Obion County

  • Lee Bagwell – Robertson County

  • Mark Spradlin – Madison County

  • Greg Story – Henry County

These new board members will serve alongside returning directors Rob Holman, Karl Forsbach, Carl Shultz, and Logan Meeks.

The TCGA thanks all who attended and contributed to a successful meeting.
